About me

Razvan Capanescu

Razvan Capanescu is an internationally award winning creative director, with an appetite for travelling. Starting with August 2016, he embraced another challenge, taking the Chief Creative Officer role at McCann Worldgroup Prague.

He used to be the Chief Creative Officer of Leo Burnett and of Publicis Bucharest, places where he has consistently steered the group into the top agencies of Central and Eastern Europe. He also coordinated the digital mavericks there, getting some of the best gigs out of it – like one of his dearest and most awarded campaigns: “Hack-this-site.com and you’re hired”, for Bitdefender (data security global champion). His digital work for ING Bank, Microsoft, Orange or Renault didn’t go unnoticed either.

Razvan strengthen his international carrier by working in global teams and wining 3 Renault international pitches, as well as exporting around the world more than a dozen of campaigns for other major accounts such as Carrefour, Orange or Samsung.

He is also the one to be found guilty of several creative premiers for the agency: the first Cannes Lion won, the first golds at the Golden Drum Festival, the first Epica Awards, the first admissions in the prestigious Luerzer’s Archive, the first Intercontinental Advertising Cup (for a digital campaign, in a competition between 3 continents) won by a local agency.

Previously, Razvan was the Creative Director of Ogilvy & Mather in Bucharest, an agency whose creative reputation he enhanced by winning its first international creative awards and major accounts such as IKEA.

His success has made him one of the highest profile creative directors based out of Central and Eastern Europe, including being vice-president of the Art Directors Club, writing articles in industry’s publications – Biz, Campaign, Forbes, IQads, Luerzer’s – and being selected as juror for creative festivals such as Ad Stars, Golden Drum, Eurobest or New York.

Born in ‘74, Razvan graduated the Law School but didn’t pursue a lawyer career (in spite of his parents despair). Over 17 years now he pleads for brands such as Bitdefender, Carrefour, Granini, Guinness, HP, IKEA, L’Oreal, Microsoft, Nestle, Nissan, Orange, Renault, Samsung or WWF.

All the nights spent in the name of brands paid off and now Razvan can mention a prestigious list of awards won, including AdPrint, ADOR, AdSpot Award, Ad Stars, Cresta, Epica, Effie, Eurobest, Golden Hammer, Golden Drum, The Intercontinental Advertising Cup, London International Awards, New York Festivals and Cannes Lions.

Razvan believes that great creative work has the power to transform human behavior. But that doesn’t prevent him to enjoy lighter thoughts such as comic books or category Z movies. He also thinks football (soccer) is a religion.
